What We Know
ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects how a person thinks, focuses, and regulates their behaviour. It influences attention, organisation, impulse control, and emotional regulation, impacting daily life, learning, work, and relationships. Everyone needs to care for their mental and neurodevelopmental wellbeing, just as we do our physical health – and the two are deeply connected, each affecting the other.
ADHD and Daily Functioning
ADHD can cause ongoing difficulties with focus, attention, impulse control, organisation, time management, and emotional regulation. These challenges may make daily tasks, learning, and social interactions more difficult and can affect confidence and independence. ADHD may be present from childhood and persist into adulthood, sometimes presenting differently across life stages.
Common difficulties associated with ADHD include:
-
Trouble sustaining attention on tasks or conversations
-
Frequent forgetfulness or losing items
-
Restlessness or difficulty sitting still
-
Impulsive decision-making or behaviours
-
Disorganisation in daily routines
-
Emotional sensitivity and frustration
At Flourish, we support both children and adults with ADHD. We address mild symptoms as well as more complex presentations, providing coordinated care tailored to individual needs through our multi-disciplinary team.
When We Need Help
If ADHD symptoms are affecting learning, work, relationships, or everyday functioning, it is important to reach out for support. Family or friends may help, but sometimes professional guidance is needed to manage challenges effectively.
If you are unsure whether you or your child might have ADHD, it is likely that support could be beneficial. Completing a brief questionnaire can help identify areas of difficulty, and we will contact you to discuss the results and next steps.
At Flourish, we are happy to answer your questions about ADHD therapy or support in a free 20 minute consultation consultation. If you feel ready, we can book you straight in for an Assessment on our ADHD pathway, explore your needs in detail, and create an Initial Care Plan tailored to help manage symptoms, improve focus, and enhance daily life.
